Burn Down the Night

Burn down the night.

Paint black oil across the sky,

Smear with fingertips.

Spark a match on a star,

An inferno to reach the empyrean.

The Moon cannot abandon his post.

Hangs his head, cries deep tears

That crash into the sea.

His luminous glow to be scorched

Then extinguished,

His ashes to follow his tears.

Or will The Sun rise to save her adversary,

His evanescent soul.

She’ll grow ever stronger from the flames

That would erase him forever.

And she needs him, like he needs her now.

Her eternal opposite and mandatory partner

Of which the universe demands.
