Night Swim
The water shimmered like black diamonds,
Softly spilling over the edge into the ocean pool.
He looked out to the deserted beach,
Watching the waves move across the sand like velvet.
She appeared from the shadows, walking down the scaly steps,
Her porcelain skin translucent in the moonlight.
He drank in every inch of her as the water enveloped her body,
As she was wrapped up by the sea.
She swam towards him, her words like music in the background,
Salt drops clinging to her neck and shoulders
He thought of this taste on his tongue
And to feel her body and press against her warmth.
He reached out underneath the shadowy blanket
But she unknowingly diverted,
Moving towards the pool’s edge to stare out at the beach.
His eyes stayed on her always, silently giving his love away.
His heart galloped like a horse through the night,
She turned towards him, her soft lips smiling
Bringing her body up to face the sky.
Goosebumps across her beautiful skin,
Shining like the stars reflecting in her eyes.
Couldn’t she just give him a sign?
