True Love

I feel a heavy weight

Of loss

The love that stopped

The love that never came

The love lost in differences

The love that sits in the dark corner of the heart

Missing the person no longer there

Burning softly like

Embers at the end of the night

And when love unravels

Falling free

From the web of lies

Created to protect

But that inevitably destroys.

The silence that holds

A thousand assumptions

A jigsaw put together wrong

And when the truth surfaces

Rising up from deep underwater

Suffocated, surfacing

For that desperate breath of air

Often too late

Unable to resuscitate the trust

2020-now
